Just Breathe Yoga

About Nicky

Over many years of teaching and study, I have built up a yogic tool-box of simple, mind-body practices and breathing techniques with the power to transform our day to day lives.  Whether you are in physical pain, suffering from anxiety, depression, or trauma, I hope to empower you to take care of your own health and all-round well-being…. one breath at a time.

My Journey into YOGA

I discovered yoga when my children were small, and the local church hall offered a weekly class. I immediately felt as if I had come home.  By the end of the class, my mind was calm and my body comfortable and I seemed more able to cope with the challenges of daily life (at least for the rest of the day!)

In the years that followed I tried every class I could from dynamic ashtanga to slow yin and restorative most of which I loved. Through yoga I learned to use my body and breath to tame my ‘monkey’ mind.

In 2011 I graduated from The Yoga Academy as a Yoga teacher and set up my home studio in beautiful Ilkley in Yorkshire, the perfect place to share the many joys of yoga.

My yoga therapy training in 2019 taught me the science and psychology behind the practices.  I learned why yoga has such a profound effect on the body and mind and how specific practices can be used to support people suffering from a whole host of physical and mental health conditions.

I am passionate about what I do and love attending workshops/trainings and learning new techniques and practices to support what I teach.  I am interested in EFT, TRE, somatics, ayurveda, energy medicine, qi gong and NLP to name but a few.

In my spare time I love cooking for the family, walking my dogs on the moors, singing, and reading.
